Minimum wage calculator for Germany

German rules, for people working in Germany. The statutory minimum wage is €13.90 gross per hour from 1 January 2026 and €14.60 from 1 January 2027 (§ 1 MiLoV5). Compare base pay or use the explicitly simplified monthly model.

What would you like to compare?

Average: 52 weeks divided by 12 months. Actual monthly hours can differ.

Example using the displayed inputs

Model calculation for Germany, subject to the assumptions below.

Statutory hourly amount
€13.90
Hourly base pay, rounded down
€15.00
Difference from statutory hourly amount
€1.10
Monthly mini-job limit
€603.00

How the calculation works

The statutory hourly amount is selected by date. The monthly model uses weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12. Effective hourly pay is rounded down; the required monthly amount is rounded up. Actual hours in a particular month may differ.

The mini-job limit is the statutory hourly amount × 130 ÷ 3, rounded up to a whole euro: €603 for 2026 and €633 for 2027. Maximum hours are rounded down to two decimal places.

Does this check every legal exception?

No. Apprenticeships, certain internships and other exceptions need a separate assessment. Selecting the special-case checkbox stops the simplified calculation.

Does falling below the limit automatically establish a mini-job?

No. Regular earnings, additional payments and permitted exceptions also matter. The calculator does not decide your employment status.

Can bonuses replace a low base wage?

Whether other payments count towards the minimum wage depends on their purpose and the circumstances. This page compares base pay only. Do not treat the result as a complete payroll assessment.

What happens after the last recorded year?

The last recorded statutory amount is shown with an explicit review warning. This does not claim that future changes have been checked. No value is provided for dates before the recorded rules.
